What's Included in Our Residential Snow Service

Driveway Plowing

Full driveway clearing using commercial-grade plows. We stack snow where it won't block visibility or drainage, and avoid pushing snow onto your landscaping.

Sidewalk & Walkway Clearing

Shoveling and clearing of all sidewalks, walkways, and paths from your door to the driveway and mailbox. Safe footing for your family and visitors.

Front Porch & Steps

We clear snow and ice from your front porch, back deck steps, and any elevated surfaces where ice accumulation creates slip-and-fall risks.

De-Icing & Salt Application

Commercial-grade salt and ice melt applied to driveways, walkways, and steps after plowing. Effective in temperatures as low as -10°F.

Mailbox Area Clearing

We clear around your mailbox so your mail carrier has safe access. No more trudging through snowbanks to get your mail.

Seasonal Contracts Available

Lock in a flat monthly rate for the entire winter. Unlimited service, priority scheduling, and no surprises — regardless of how much it snows.

What Snow Season Looks Like for Rock County Homeowners

Rock County averages 39 to 45 inches of seasonal snowfall — moderate by Wisconsin standards but with substantial year-to-year variability. The core season runs late November through March, with late-season wet snow events sometimes pushing into early April. For residential customers, the variability is the budgeting challenge: a light winter and a heavy winter can differ by 30+ inches of total accumulation.

12 to 18 trackable events per typical season. Some are 1-2 inch dustings; some are 8-12 inch storms that demand multi-hour clearance during ongoing accumulation. Our seasonal contracts cover unlimited events at trigger depth — the right structure for homeowners who don't want to be calculating cost per inch every time it snows.

Sub-zero stretches in January and February. Rock County routinely produces -10°F to -20°F daytime highs in mid-winter. Standard rock salt stops working below 15°F. For ADA-critical residential surfaces (homes with elderly residents, accessible entryways, daycare pickup areas), we carry calcium chloride and magnesium blends that maintain ice melt efficacy down to -20°F.

Local sidewalk ordinances vary by city. Janesville requires sidewalk clearance within 24 hours of snowfall ending. Beloit, Milton, and Edgerton have similar requirements. Rural township properties have no sidewalk ordinance because they typically have no municipal sidewalk frontage. Our contracts specify scope by city ordinance compliance for in-city customers and by driveway / access for rural acreage.

Two Contract Structures for Residential Snow Removal

Choosing the right contract structure for your property and your risk tolerance avoids the disputes that start with mismatched expectations after the first heavy storm.

Per-Event Pricing

Billed per service occurrence. No monthly commitment. Right for trial-period customers, properties with unpredictable snow needs, or homeowners who travel for part of the winter. Per-event pricing is typically higher per occurrence than seasonal — there's no route guarantee in the queue.

Best for: trial seasons, snowbird residents, unpredictable needs

Seasonal Flat-Rate

Fixed monthly fee November through March covering unlimited service events at the contracted trigger depth. Predictable budget line, lower per-event cost, and priority queue placement during heavy storms. Most Rock County seasonal customers also include sidewalk and walkway service in scope.

Best for: year-round residents, predictable budget needs, priority route placement

Service also extends to Evansville, Clinton, Orfordville, and the surrounding rural townships — call for quote.

Residential Snow Removal FAQs

What does your residential snow removal include?

Our residential service includes driveway plowing or blowing, sidewalk and walkway shoveling to local ordinance compliance, front porch and step clearing, de-icing or salt application, and mailbox area clearing. Properties with longer rural driveways or shared road access get those routes added in scope. We leave your property safe and fully accessible after every event.

Do you offer per-event or seasonal pricing?

Both. Per-event pricing charges you only when it snows — best for trial seasons or properties with unpredictable snow needs. Seasonal contracts provide unlimited service for a fixed monthly rate November through March — best for predictable budgeting and priority route placement. Seasonal customers get serviced first during heavy storms.

What is your trigger depth?

Our standard residential trigger depth is 3 inches. Once snowfall reaches this threshold, your property is automatically serviced. Custom trigger depths are available — 2 inches for properties where walkway safety matters more (homes with elderly residents, daycare arrangements, anyone who walks before sunrise), or 4 inches for properties that prefer fewer service events per season.

How soon after snowfall will my driveway be cleared?

Residential properties under seasonal contract are typically cleared within 4-6 hours of snowfall ending. Per-event customers fall later in the route queue. During major storm events we may begin clearing during accumulation rather than waiting for snowfall to end. Janesville-area properties are usually cleared faster than outlying cities because our HQ is in Janesville.

How much does residential snow removal cost in Rock County?

Per-event pricing typically runs $40 to $75 for standard single-driveway service in Janesville, Beloit, Milton, or Edgerton. Rural acreage driveways with longer routes (300+ feet) run $60 to $120. Seasonal contracts range from $400 to $900 for the November-through-March season depending on driveway size, walkway scope, and rural-acreage routing. Free quotes after a site walk.

Can I bundle snow removal with tree care?

Yes — and many of our Rock County residential customers do. Bundling gives you one trusted vendor for year-round property care, priority scheduling on both sides of the calendar, simplified billing, and a crew that's already familiar with your property layout. Bundling discounts vary by scope — site walks are free.

Do you handle rural acreage and farmstead properties?

Yes. Rural acreage driveways, farmstead access lanes, shelterbelt-bordered properties, and county-road frontage are routine in our Rock County service area. Rural properties often have 300 to 800 foot driveways with multiple outbuildings — we use commercial-grade equipment sized for the work rather than consumer pickups that struggle on long rural drives.

Are you insured for residential snow removal?

Yes. General liability insurance covers our residential operations, workers' compensation on every employee, and commercial auto coverage on every vehicle in the fleet. The same TCIA Accredited operational standards we run for our commercial accounts apply to residential service.

What's the best time to sign a 2026-27 residential snow contract?

Reasonable contractors hold residential seasonal pricing through August. Pricing typically rises 5-10% in September and route capacity tightens in October. Residential signing window: late July through September is best. Per-event customers can sign later but face the same priority constraints during heavy events — seasonal customers get serviced first.

Do you service properties outside Janesville?

Yes. From our Janesville HQ we service residential properties in Beloit, Milton, Edgerton, Evansville, Clinton, Orfordville, and the surrounding rural townships. Each city gets dedicated routing during snow events. See our city-specific pages for snow service in your area.
